Clean your filter once every season

Filter cleaning is recommended once every season. A clogged filter strains your pump, raises your power bill, and lets fine debris recirculate.

The simple rule

Filter cleaning is recommended once every season — roughly four times a year. That cadence keeps flow strong, pump pressure in spec, and fine particles from sneaking back into your pool.

If you've had a dust storm, a green-pool recovery, or a heavy pollen week, do an extra clean. Don't wait for the calendar.

Why seasonal matters in Vegas

Cartridge filters in Las Vegas trap calcium dust, pollen, sunscreen, and monsoon grit on top of normal debris. By the end of a season the pleats are loaded, pressure climbs 8–10 psi above clean, and your variable-speed pump quietly works harder for less flow.

Letting it ride for a year usually costs more than the cleaning — in electricity, in shortened cartridge life, and eventually in a strained pump motor.

What a proper clean looks like

Whether you DIY or have us handle it, a real seasonal clean includes:

  • Disassemble the filter and inspect the o-ring
  • Hose pleats top-to-bottom (cartridge) or backwash + bump (DE)
  • Soak in a filter degreaser overnight if oils are visible
  • Acid-rinse if scale is present (Vegas water often needs this)
  • Reassemble, prime, and log the new clean pressure as your baseline
